I bought this puzzle because I already have the Dayan Gem VIII, and the 3-layer drum is simply a pillowed version of that puzzle. Like most 2-layer puzzles, this puzzle uses the same mechanism as the 3-layer version, but has pieces hidden internally. Unfortunately, this version's internal pieces are not milky/translucent, and instead have colors; because of this, they need to be solved as well, making this puzzle no different than the 3-layer version. You can choose to ignore those pieces if you want, but be aware that these pieces are visible.

Megamimx Magic Drum 2x (Truncated tetrahedron).

It is solved as a Megaminx. It has 2 solutions because it has coloured inner pieces that you could take in consideration or not. So, its brother "3 layers" is quite the same thing. Nice cube. Nice turning. Stickerless. I recommend it.
